Become a Moderator

🛡️ The Woodhouse Hub is a local platform built to keep things genuine, fair, and useful for people around Mansfield Woodhouse – and that only works with help from trusted people in the community.

We’re looking for local volunteers who want to help moderate listings, reviews, and reports to keep the platform safe and reliable for everyone.

This is a voluntary community role and is not a paid position.

💙 What does a moderator do?

As a moderator, you help with:

• Reviewing new business listings
• Reviewing community group submissions
• Checking reported reviews or content
• Removing spam, abuse, or fake listings
• Helping decide who gets a Verified Local badge

You’re not here to judge quality or take sides – just to make sure things are accurate, respectful, and genuine.

👀 What moderation is NOT

Moderators must not:

• Promote their own business or friends
• Remove negative reviews just because they’re negative
• Argue with users or businesses
• Use moderator tools casually or emotionally

Everything is done calmly, fairly, and based on the platform rules.

📍 Who we’re looking for

This role is ideal if you:

• Live in or around Mansfield Woodhouse
• Know the local area and community
• Are fair, level-headed, and respectful
• Can stay neutral in difficult situations
• Are happy to volunteer a small amount of time

No technical knowledge is needed – full training is provided.

🎓 Training & access

All moderators must complete Mod Training before getting access.

Training includes:

• How to use moderation tools
• How Mod Mode works
• Real moderation scenarios
• What action to take in different situations
• A short quiz at the end

Moderator access is only granted once training is completed.

🔒 Accountability & trust

• Moderator actions are logged
• Access can be removed at any time
• Serious issues are escalated to admin
• Abuse of permissions will result in removal

This helps keep everything fair and transparent.

⏱️ Time commitment

There’s no fixed schedule.

Some days there may be nothing to review, other days might take a few minutes.

You can step back at any time.
